ABOUT US

Ms. Katie

 Accelerando Music was founded by Katie Kraft, a passionate music educator with 22 years of teaching experience. Katie holds a degree in Music from the University of Virginia, an Orff-Schulwerk Music Education pedagogy certification from Boston College, a K-12 teaching certification from Montclair University, and early childhood music training through Music Together in Bologna, Italy.

After graduating from UVA in 2003, Katie began her career teaching general music, choir, and piano/guitar lessons at an elementary school. In 2009, she established Accelerando Music and began offering music lessons and her Tots with Tempo classes from her home studio. During the pandemic, Katie expanded her offerings by creating music videos and instructional materials for her Tots with Tempo curriculum. Today, she has her own YouTube channel, two albums, and an online storefront selling her original educational resources.

Our Crescendo

Since its inception, Accelerando Music has expanded to two locations—Arlington & "The Barn" in Alexandria.

Accelerando Music offers a wide range of services, including music classes, individual and group music lessons, birthday parties, summer camps, and community events like their popular monthly Open Mic Night, held on the first Friday of every month. While Katie initially focused on working with young children, Accelerando has since grown to provide music programs for individuals of all ages.
