Calming Connections is Accelerando Music’s new inclusive music therapy and adaptive lesson program, designed for neurodivergent, autistic, and sensory-sensitive learners. Led by Board-Certified Music Therapist Faith Hubbard, MT-BC, these sessions create a nurturing, structured environment where every child can connect, grow, and express themselves through music.
All sessions use live, hands-on music — singing, rhythm, drumming, movement, and gentle improvisation — to support emotional regulation, communication, and confidence. Whether your child benefits from a small group setting or individualized attention, each class is tailored to meet their unique sensory and developmental needs.
Classes are offered weekly at our Alexandria location, The Barn.
YES! We do offer free trials, sibling discounts and prorated tuition!

Small-group classes are designed to promote social interaction, sensory regulation, and musical exploration in a safe and predictable setting. Children explore rhythm instruments, movement, and live music at a pace that feels comfortable.
Group sessions include structured songs, movement breaks, and relaxation through sound — helping students connect with others while enjoying the power of music together.
Extra time (15 min) is provided after class for students to remain and explore the instruments independently or socialize.

Individualized sessions that meet your child where they are. All ages.
Private lessons blend music therapy techniques with skill-based instruction to help students explore music and instruments in a one-on-one setting. Each session is adapted for sensory comfort, focus level, and personal goals — whether that means learning songs, improving fine motor control, or simply finding joy in sound.

Hi! I’m Faith, and I’m so excited to make music with you! I’m a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) who loves using music to connect, create, and grow. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Music from Randolph-Macon College and completed professional music therapy training at Shenandoah University. I have experience leading music therapy sessions for children, older adults, and individuals with developmental disabilities, using music to support communication, social skills, emotional expression, and overall wellbeing.
I’ve been involved in music my whole life! I did show choir throughout middle school, high school, and college, teach dance at church, and currently lead the church choir.
I’ll be offering sensory-friendly music sessions for children up to five years old, as well as guitar lessons for all ages. I also play piano and ukulele and love bringing a variety of instruments into my sessions to make music engaging and fun for everyone!
FUN FACT: My favorite show of all time is SpongeBob SquarePants! I’ve been watching it since I was little and can quote just about every episode (probably a little too well). After a long day, one of my favorite things to do is make a big cup of tea and watch my favorite sea creatures act silly!
Music helps the body find calm and balance.
Rhythmic entrainment — the body’s natural response to steady beats — supports regulation, attention, and relaxation. Drumming, swaying, or strumming creates predictable patterns that help children feel grounded and safe.
Music gives every child a voice.
Through singing, rhythm, and call-and-response, students express emotions and connect with others nonverbally. This builds confidence, trust, and a sense of belonging.
Sound helps children identify and manage feelings.
Changing tempo, dynamics, and tone teaches emotional recognition and regulation — helping students name and process big feelings through music.
Live music adjusts to sensory needs in real time.
Faith uses volume, tempo, and timbre modifications to meet each student’s comfort level, ensuring that every session feels safe and supportive.
Therapeutic goals meet musical growth.
Each session weaves in rhythm, pitch, and coordination activities that develop fine motor control, attention, and pre-instrumental skills in a natural, playful way.
Music nurtures relationships and self-esteem.
As students gain mastery, they experience success and pride. Every shared rhythm, song, and smile builds connection and confidence — both in music and in life.
